The Greer Children's Theatre is among GCAC's most popular programs. Each year, GCT performs three musicals or plays at either the The Cannon Centre or the Edward R. Driggers City of Greer Center for the Arts. Auditions for most GCT shows are open to children in first grade through High School, though some shows do call for adult roles as well. Audition notices are posted on our Facebook page and anyone is welcome to audition.
UPCOMING SHOWS
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s
Cinderella (Youth Edition)
The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Its recreation in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true, and so was a second remake in 1997, which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, this enthralling fairy tale still warms the hearts of children and adults alike.
In this specially created Youth Edition, all the beloved songs and familiar characters are present and accounted for. However, the entire script has been condensed to better suit young attention spans, and the plot has been slightly altered to highlight some important lessons for contemporary audiences.

Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by Wadsworth – the butler, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Frequently Asked Questions: Auditions
Do we need to be a member or take classes to audition?
Nope! As long as your child fits the age requirements, they can audition.
WHat do you do at an audition?
Auditionees will arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled audition time to fill out and turn in paperwork and get comfortable/mentally prepare themselves. They will go into the theatre or audition room in a large group (10-15 auditionees at a time) with only the directors and their fellow auditionees. They will take turns singing their prepared song (typically about 30 seconds per person) and they will learn a short dance as a group. They may be asked to do a "cold read" from a script.
are parents allowed to watch the auditions?
Only the directors and the auditionees are allowed in while auditions are taking place. Parents and family members can wait in the lobby, take a walk out in the park, or go run a short errand. Each audition group lasts approximately one hour.
My child wants to audition but is very nervous - do you have any tips?
Choose a song comfortably in your range that you enjoy singing, and practice it at home in front of your family before you audition. Also, remember that everyone else in the audition room, at some point, has been in your shoes. Even the older kids that have been in 17 shows before are nervous at an audition. Take comfort in the fact that you're all in the same boat, and do your best!
WHAT IS THE REHEARSAL SCHEDULE LIKE?
Typically, we rehearse Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The week leading up to opening night (Tech Week) will have daily rehearsals that are slightly longer than usual.
