Accessibility Information

Sensory Friendly Tool Kits: The theatre can be a bright, loud, and overstimulating experience for many people. Borrow one of our Sensory Friendly Tool Kits to use throughout any performance, then return it to us at the end of the show. Each kit contains:
  • Headphones (child-sized)
  • Disposable ear plugs
  • Sunglasses
  • A few types of fidget tools
  • Hand sanitizing wipes
  • Communication card
  • 2 matching wristbands (if you'd like to self identify to staff members as sensory sensitive, or to match up individuals and their parent/caregiver.)
We also recommend reading "Going To The Show" beforehand to prepare young theatre-goers for what they can expect during an outing to a live show. (Credit: Miami-Dade County Dept. of Cultural Affairs)
Audio Description: We have the capability of providing a live audio description during performances to patrons with low vision or blindness. We will need advanced notice in order to prepare for this, so please contact us as far in advance as you can if you would like to utilize this accommodation. (Phone: 864-848-5383 Email: [email protected]) We can also arrange for a touch tour before the show for those with blindness or low vision.

ASL Performance: In the past, we have offered performance with American Sign Language interpreters (via ACCESS Interpreting Services) translating live during the performance. Due to a decline of patrons utilizing this accommodation, we have unfortunately had to discontinue hiring the interpreters for every production. If you are interested in attending an ASL performance for an upcoming production, please contact [email protected] at least 45 days before the production is set to open. If you are a business interested in sponsoring our ability to provide ASL interpreters, please reach out as well!

Additional Information:  The Cannon Centre and the Center for the Arts are wheelchair accessible. Seating is individual chairs (not immobile like auditorium/stadium seats). There are 2 accessible parking spaces at the Cannon Centre on the Cannon Street side, and 2 accessible parking spaces in the lower parking lot on Line Street.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity of the City of Greer, should contact the office of Keith Choate, ADA Coordinator, at 864-848-5386 or TTY at 864-968-7014 as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.
